Referring a patient
I welcome referrals from GPs, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals for adult and adolescent patients with knee problems, and adults with hip arthritis.
How to refer
Email a referral letter to office@mrjameschilds.com, or call my secretary on 0161 521 5628. Please include the patient’s contact details, insurer and authorisation code if known, relevant history and any imaging reports.

Acute knee injuries are prioritised. Please refer promptly for:
- Suspected locked knee or bucket-handle meniscal tear
- Suspected multi-ligament injury or knee dislocation
- First kneecap dislocation with a suspected loose fragment
- Suspected ACL injury in an active patient
Who I see
- Sports injuries: ACL, meniscus, kneecap instability, multi-ligament
- Early knee arthritis in active patients: injection therapy, osteotomy and cartilage surgery
- Knee arthritis: partial, total, robotic and custom-made replacement
- Painful or failing knee replacements
